To clarify my position why I am not going to attend the Frankfurt Bookfair:
First, as recommended by the doctor, my health condition is not subject to intense activities within two months after the discharge from the hospital. Until today I still have some minor problems related to the injury, and have to go regularly for check up on my health condition.
Second, I came to Germany for installation of my show at Haus der Kunst in Munich which involved all my effort in the past three weeks. I have talked to media intensively about my views related to my artworks and concepts of the exhibition since the accident. I answered all the questions regarding my relationship to any nation’s politics, social development, and possibilities of changes. Therefore I do not feel the need to participate in another event which to me does not have a clear topic.
I am a person who always fights for freedom of speech, independent thinking, and individualism through my work and in any possible expression. I will continue my effort in protecting basic human rights and values through the rest of the time.
It should be clear that no institution, neither communist dictatorship nor some other political alliance, can alter my decision of participating or not to participate.
I hope the Bookfair turns out to be a great success in protecting the fundamental need of freedom of speech and freedom of communication.

the chinese tower in the english garden in munich, a shape of pagoda unseen in china in the 18. century . there was a particular interest in “chinoiserien” (chinese arts, crafts and architecture in a chinese stile) the tower was built in a traditional wood construction and roofed of austrian shingles. it was designed in 1790 by the architect Joseph Frey. destroyed in the last year of world war II it was rebuilt a couple of years later with money from donations, and is now a symbol for Munichs openness and liberality. beergarden, restaurant and carusell at the foot of the tower is the social and historic center of the famous English Garden.
